NVIDIA have finally disclosed their new RTX 30 series GPUs set to be released later this year. The RTX 3070, RTX 3080, and the mammoth RTX 3090, were announced in an online presentation Tuesday morning blowing the previous RTX 20 series out of the water.

These new cards are extremely powerful pieces of technology, with the latest RTX 3080 benchmarks showing an increase of nearly 100% over the last generation flagship card RTX2080. The RTX 3070 is no slouch either, with performance tipped to beat last generations most powerful card, the RTX 2080ti in performance.

The RTX 3090, which is projected to succeed its previous TITAN graphics cards, is just a beast in pure power, with NVIDIA claiming the card will be able to power 8K resolution with 60 frames per second frame rates. It also features over 24GB of G6X memory, a staggering 13GB more than the RTX2080.

The RTX 30 GPUs, called ‘Ampere’, double down on NVIDIA’s ray tracing and AI technology, with the cards featuring faster ray tracing cores and faster tensor cores than the RTX 20 GPUs.

These new cards show amazing value for money as well, with the RTX 3070 retailing for around $800AUD, RTX 3080 for $1200AUD, and the RTX 3090 for around $2000AUD. In comparison, last generations RTX 2080ti retailed for over $2400AUD. NVIDIA have really outdone themselves with the RTX 30 lineup, showing consumers that powerful GPUs don’t need to cost an arm and a leg. It will be interesting to see how AMD compete with these new cards when they announce their new GPUs later this year.

For casual gamers looking for great framerate and visuals, the 3070 shows amazing value, while leaving the other cards for gamers looking to take advantage of 4K gaming.

The RTX 3080 will launch first on September 17, 2020, with the 3070 releasing in October.
