As the football season in Bathurst has finished its 5th round, the leaderboards are beginning to take shape.
Sitting in a comfortable second place in this year’s 3rd Grade is Bathurst Athletic, a club founded in 2014 and has played consistently since its founding.
Colloquially known as Bathletic, it is currently sitting on the least amount of goals conceded this season.
Its defense having proved to be impeccable, Bathurst Athletic is setting itself on improving its offensive ability.
Coach Samuel Ogg had this to say about this thoughts on the Season:
I think we’ve started really positively. We had a bit of change in the squad and have stepped up into a tougher division and I think the team has risen to that challenge. We still have lots of room for improvement, especially infront of goals, but I’ve been really impressed by our defence. I think we deserve our second place at the moment and should be up there come finals time.

Bathletic’s training regimen is one that emphasizes a passing game and player communication: many members of the team are of the opinion that without a solid passing game, “you might as well go home“.
Despite its serious nature during a game, the team is closely-knit, with many of its members having known each other for years, sharing close bonds of friendship and more than half its members attending Church together.
Bathurst Athletic plays again this weekend against the Lithgow Workmen’s Club at 11am on Proctor Park.
