If you are a final year Charles Sturt University student, all set to graduate at the end of this Session (2), then we have some news for you.
In an email sent out to students on the 24th of August this year, Charles Sturt Uni shared their latest decision regarding the graduation ceremonies set to take place in December of this year.
“We have made the difficult decision to postpone our December 2020 Graduation ceremonies in the interest of safety for our students and communities,” the email read.
As a result of the postponement, the University has also extended the dates for grade finalisations to accommodate for any delays in completion of practicals due to the pandemic.
So, for those who have put in years of hard work to finish your degree at the end of this session, your reward is getting your testamur in the mail. Congratulations.
What we think
When Jemma read the email, her reaction was different to what I expected, she wasn’t very affected by the news saying “I prefer to not get up in front of a crowd, there’s so much pressure on you.”
Another Journalism student in their final year thought that the information we were given in the email isn’t enough but doesn’t mind about the postponement, as long as we don’t have to wait too long for the ceremonies.
Most of the final year students I have spoken to were initially disappointed by the decision saying they feel like they should have a big celebration after all the hard work they’ve put into their degrees, but they understand the decision.
For me, I am disappointed but I understand, I would like to have some sort of a celebration to signify the end of a lot of hard work and I hope we get that sooner rather than later.
