At 5pm during peak travel hour at Chatswood Station a young woman ran to the train carriage placing her arm in between the doors as they are closing in an attempt to trigger the sensor in the doors.

The platform attendant on duty had already signalled for the train to depart when the female passenger lodged her arm into the door of the train. Immediately the attendant signalled for the conductor to stop the train however, she was still dragged along the platform by her arm as the train lost momentum.

Elle Alberts the paramedic on scene stated that the woman was persistent, refusing to be assessed for injuries until the station manager convinced her to do so.

“She was so angry she did not want to accept any medical help. On our books she did agree to be assessed and we found that there was no injury.”

Elle Alberts, Paramedic at Chatswood train station.

The passenger was assessed by a private company after telling Sydney rail that she was not injured. She then contacted a private assessor who prompted the woman to file a court case against Sydney Trains for undue stress.
