Due to enormous success in the state’s West, Dubbo based CrossFit gym Red City has infiltrated Orange and is the talk of the town.

After spending five years building his brand and community at the Dubbo gym, Red One, owner and co-founder of Red City Gym Lachlan Learg knew that it was time to see the business grow. Insert Orange’s newest gym, Red Two.

“It was a plan my brother and I had formed together after working in the industry in Sydney. Red Two was something we’d had on the back burner since the beginning, that was the point in naming it Red One. There was always going to be multiple.”

The long awaited expansion was set and ready to explode late last year. But a combination of lease agreements, council approval and a poorly timed world wide pandemic meant that Red Two would have to wait.

Fast forward 12 weeks and Orange’s shiny new toy, Red Two, was fully operational.

Being in lockdown for upwards of 3 months and not being able to go to the gym meant many people were going without their daily exercise.

Coupling that with the hype surrounding Red City’s expansion meant that CrossFit enthusiasts were chomping at the bit to pump some iron.

As the first few weeks of business unfolded, more and more people were emerging from lockdown with some unwanted extra body weight to their name.

This has brought a vast array of members to Red Two, ranging from experienced CrossFit athletes to those that have never done so much as a squat.

“We’d been hopeful that upon reopening people would be happy to get out and about again. There was this boom and uptake in business,” said owner Lachlan Learg.

Being a member of any gym amidst the current climate is an enormous privilege. And it’s one that the Red City boss believes that his patrons are very aware of.
